Personally, teaching is not a career that I would choose. There are many countless reasons why! Teachers are underpaid as well underappreciated. They are frowned upon by other professionals, such as doctors and lawyers. They make statements like "why did you want to teach?" Even present educators make discouraging statements such as "are you sure you want to teach?" Elementary teachers are often forgotten about by their students years later, unlike high school teachers who get all the glory. So why, you may ask, do I want to be an elementary school teacher?
Teaching is what I've been called to do. I have a passion for teaching and every professional placement test that I take tells me that is what I should be doing. I love children. I think that you have greater effects helping them in those formative, developmental years; which is why i chose the elementary field. Teaching is something that you really have to be passionate about and that I am.
About Me...
Hello! My name is Jahmarkus Rabb. I am a senior at the University of South Alabama. I am an Elementary Education major, one of very few males who choose this major. I am a 21-year-old native of Mobile, Alabama, the baby boy of a blended family. I am a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and I currently serve as President of our chapter. I'm also involved in the African American Student Association and the Gathering, which is a Christian club for students at this school. I also am very active in ministry at my home church. My hobbies are reading, singing, fishing, bowling, and horror movies. My future goals are to one day get married, have children, establish schools and Christian academies all over the world, and to travel globally doing missionary work and evangelism.
